The inaugural Valley Forge 10-Ball Barbox Championships have come to a close!
Assembled and promoted on very short notice, this event was successful nonetheless. For the inaugural year, the Valley Forge 10-Ball Championsips drew 105 players into the Mens/Open Division, 12 players into the Womens Division, and 9 players into the free Juniors 16 and Under division. The convention center lower level housed 34 Diamond BarBox tables, brought in and set-up especially for this event.
Throughout the weekend, the assembled players competed over 10-Ball. The Mens/Open Division was best of 3 sets, races to 5. The Women played best of 3 sets, races to 4. Mini tournaments were played all weekend, and there were also satellites to win a $50 entry for a 1-day tournament on Sunday. In addition to all the tournament play on top-of-the-line Diamond BarBox tables, there were 8 tables open for play at only 25 cents a game.
The Mens/Open Division, with a $5000 guaranteed prize pool, finished as follows:
CHAMPION: Nelson Oliveira
2nd: Shaun Wilkie
3/4th: Dave Daya, Dave Grau
5/8th: Freddy Scott, Ed Matushoneck, Bucky Souvanthong, Ryan McCreesh
The Womens Division finished as follows:
CHAMPION: Sharon O'Hanlon
2nd: Kim Meyer
3/4th: Nicole Nester, Katie Byrne
5/8th: Kristin Belly, Samantha Miskevitch, Kim McKenna, Theresa Intelisano
The Juniors 16 & Under Division finished as follows:
CHAMPION: Jonathan Castillo
2nd: Dakota Heberling
3/4th: Steve Pullia, Nicholas Pizarro Jr
5/8th: Christian Giambuzzi, Sam Martini, Eric Klisz, Daulton Nace
Special thanks to all the players that participated in this years event. We appreciate players coming out on such short notice, next year we will be hosting this event again and hope to have twice as many players, as well as a league event as well.
An additional thanks to our wonderful tournament directors Cecilia (Cici) Strain and Colleen Shoop. Their expertise ensured that all events ran smoothly and professionally.
